Registered Nurse (Emergency Services) - Illinois, Galesburg

• Beds/Trauma Bays: 11 Rooms, 2 Trauma Rooms, 3 Fast Track
• Average Patients per Day: 58 (assigned based on Emergency Severity Index - ESI)
• Shift Times: 7 AM - 7 PM, 3 PM - 3 AM
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday Requirement: Every other holiday
• Floating: None regularly, but may occasionally assist on other units or respond to codes/rapid response teams
• Dress Code: Any color scrubs

Patient Care & Team

• Treats all ESI levels
• ED Physicians and Mid-Levels are in-house
• Charge Nurse usually present; sometimes takes patient assignments
• Nurse Aids/EMTs/Paramedics/Patient Sitters available with a ratio of approximately 1:10
• Respiratory Therapists available 24/7 performing ABGs, breathing treatments, and EKGs
• No monitor techs; RNs read their own cardiac monitor strips
• Phlebotomy is not performed by RNs; separate phlebotomy staff draws labs

Orientation & Systems

• Non-billable orientation: 12 hours (typically one shift to acclimate, can be extended if needed)
• Epic experience is highly preferred to function effectively as a travel RN

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - AHA

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois nursing license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• Must comply with a drug-free workplace policy and produce a negative drug screen for all panels

Additional Notes

• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius
• Call-off policy allows equivalent of 12 hours off every 13 weeks without penalty
• No floating requirements regularly, but occasional assistance may be needed on other units or emergency response teams
