Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - CVICU
Location: Dayton, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Shifts available: 36 or 48 hours
- Targeted patient ratio: 1:2 in a 36-bed unit
- Work involves telemetry, drips, and ventilators
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Floating may be required to other nearby campuses (within 15 miles)
- Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays
- Travel experience preferred but not required; first-time travelers are welcome
- OT paid after 48 hours on 48-hour shifts
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1 year of dedicated CVICU experience required
- Level 1 Trauma experience preferred
- Must be able to read and interpret EKG strips
- Experience with arterial lines, ventilators, drips, sheaths, dialysis, and drawing ABGs
- EPIC electronic health record experience required
- Pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment before starting
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Ohio RN license (primary source verification required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (updated annually)
- Must be able to pass Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam within 1 year or complete remediation/testing after contract signing
Additional Requirements
- Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness for duty
- Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel including marijuana) within 12 months
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG
- Immunizations or proof of immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption
- Medical questionnaire for respiratory protection and respirator fit testing as required
- Two professional references within 2 years (one must be a manager/supervisor/charge nurse) or employment verification if references unavailable
- Skills checklist updated within 1 year
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency within 2 years
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- CVICU experience (minimum 1 year), with experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
- State License 1 Verification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with arterial lines (A-Lines)
- Experience with ventilators
- Experience managing sheaths
- Dialysis experience
- Experience drawing arterial blood gases (ABGs)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Notes
- Ohio RN license does not need to be in hand at time of signing
- Agency reserves the right to cancel shifts or contract with notice
