Description

Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry

Location: Reidsville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: 3x12 hour shifts, nights (7 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Rotation: Every other week (EOW), holidays as needed
  • Float required between all facilities in the system
  • Patient population includes acutely ill medical-surgical and orthopedic patients
  • Common patient diagnoses:
    • Acute/chronic respiratory illness
    • Post-op general surgery and gynecological surgery
    • Post-op total knee and hip replacements
    • Orthopedics, acute and chronic pain
    • Active GI bleeding, CHF/pulmonary edema
    • Diabetes (hyper- and hypoglycemic conditions)
    • Renal failure, drug overdose
  • Patients with Clinical Institute Withdrawal (CIWA) score below 7
  • Other patient considerations: suicidal, arrhythmia, radioactive therapy, stable COVID patients
  • IV medication drips administered may include Heparin and TNA

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Med Surg / Telemetry experience totaling 2 years
  • Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • EKG competency
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card
  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification (Associate's degree in nursing or higher required)
  • Transcript/Diploma as proof of highest education
  • Employment application/resume with 7-year work history
  • Work history verification for last 5 years
  • Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Fit mask test completed within current calendar year (N95 respirators approved)
  • Fingerprinting as required by North Carolina regulations (if applicable)
  • Facility-specific documents including photo for badge, health history form, floating policy acknowledgment, contractor equipment acknowledgment, and dress code review
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgment
  • Acknowledgement of pass/fail testing requirements (EPIC and EKG)

Additional Information

  • Zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Flexibility with scheduling is required
  • Candidates must be aware of and complete all compliance requirements by deadlines prior to start date
  • Floating between units and facilities is mandatory for travelers
  • Candidates must complete all required competency exams and certifications prior to or shortly after start date

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with telemetry experience who are flexible with night shifts and floating assignments. First-time travel nurses are welcome to apply.
