Description

Registered Nurse - Med Surg

Location: Corpus Christi, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit
15 beds, staffed with 18 personnel
Day Shift: 1 charge nurse (full load), 2 RNs, 1 CNA
Night Shift: 1 charge nurse (full load), 2 RNs, 1 CNA
Patient Ratios: Typically 5:1, maximum 6:1
Equipment: Vital signs machines, transfer equipment (Hoyer lift, sliding boards), EKG, bladder scanner
Electronic Medical Records (EMR): Meditech, Pyxis

Job Responsibilities

Patient transfers
Bladder scans
Dressing changes
Medication administration
Rehab scoring documentation (preferred)

Required Skills & Qualifications

Valid RN license in Texas
Minimum 1 year of Med Surg experience within the last year
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
BLS certification
Rehabilitation experience

Work Environment & Policies

Floating assignments across Med-Surg, Telemetry, Renal, Urology, Orthopedic, and Overflow units (excluding ICU)
Bedside report and handoff procedures
Hourly rounding
Ensure bed alarm activation
Dress code: Scrubs (color/attire not specified)
Weekend schedule: Every other weekend and holidays
On-call: Rare, only if hospital census is low
