Job Opportunity: MRI Tech
Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Overview
- Mobile MRI Tech position with a schedule primarily Fridays (until 5pm) and weekends (Saturday-Sunday) working 3x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM).
- Will work holidays if they fall on scheduled shifts.
- No on-call required.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of MRI Technologist experience within the last year.
- Certification/Licenses:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required (AHA or ARC accepted).
- ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification required; state license not required.
Work Environment
- Facility is a teaching hospital with Magnet status and Level 1 Trauma designation.
- Charting system: Epic.
- Scrub color: Teal top, black bottom.
- Parking available with a one-time pass fee for nights and weekends.
- Radius rule: 60 miles. Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis.
Certifications & Compliance
- BLS certification must be current and valid beyond 30 days from start date.
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (e.g., ACLS, PALS) but not specified for this role.
- Fit test for N95 mask required within 90 days prior to start and renewed annually.
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen required within 90 days of start.
- Background checks including 7 years of history and various federal/state registries required.
- Education verification and proof of clinical references required.
- Radiation badge required for Radiology/Cardiology travelers except MRI Techs (MRI Techs do not require a radiation badge).
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam required, updated annually, attesting ability to meet job demands.
- Immunizations and titers required or proof of immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination form)
- TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start; annual TB questionnaire required.
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- COVID-19 vaccination highly preferred; if declined, a declination form must be completed.
Additional Notes
- Travelers will be assigned to emergency response teams during hurricane season (June-November).
- Modules and orientation must be completed prior to start; failure to complete may result in being sent home.
- A clear, passport-style badge photo is required before start.
- All required documentation (licenses, certifications, health records) must be current and uploaded as instructed.
This position is ideal for MRI Technologists with at least 1 year of experience, Siemens MRI proficiency, and who are comfortable working extended weekend shifts in a Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital environment.
