Registered Nurse - Med Surg

Location: Santa Fe, New Mexico
Employment Type: Travel
Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Summary

The Registered Nurse coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. Ensures quality care is provided efficiently and safely, consistent with unit standards. Demonstrates professionalism, quality, and effectiveness in clinical practice. Treats staff, physicians, patients, and families with respect.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in New Mexico
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience
• Med Surg nursing experience within the last year
• BLS Certification

• Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the patient population served
• Knowledgeable and sensitive to patients’ rights in care delivery
• Clear and concise communication appropriate to patient developmental age
• Ability to handle emergency/crisis situations
• Physical ability to perform prolonged standing, walking, patient positioning, pushing, transferring, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching
• Normal or correctable hearing and visual acuity, manual dexterity, and fine motor coordination

• Clean, well-lighted, ventilated, smoke-free environment
• Subject to stressful professional relationships
• Flexible working hours due to unexpected schedule changes and emergencies

Supervision

• Reports to Patient Care Director or Manager
