Description

Registered Nurse (Oncology) - State College, Pennsylvania

Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Shift hours vary between approximately 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM and 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Provide professional nursing care to oncology patients following established standards and healthcare practices
  • Demonstrate competence in clinical judgment related to patient care
  • Assist healthcare providers with patient care and education
  • Actively participate as a member of the healthcare team to engage patients, families, and caregivers in care coordination

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of hematology/oncology nursing experience within the last year

Certifications & Licenses

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Pennsylvania
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Education

  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Practical nursing principles and skills for quality patient care, including examination, diagnostics, treatment procedures, medication effects, and patient education
  • Awareness of common safety hazards and precautions
  • Familiarity with office procedures and medical terminology
  • Basic understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding guidelines
  • Clear and effective communication skills; ability to follow written and verbal instructions from physicians
  • Ability to remain calm and effective during emergency situations
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including prioritization and confident decision-making
  • Ability to administer various medications and treatments and use different types of examination and treatment equipment
