Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Somerville, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM (40 hours per week)
- Workload: Approximately 30 cases per day
- On-Call: May have on-call shifts on weekends; 7 shifts per month (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Charting System: EPIC
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of acute care experience
- First Time Travelers: Accepted
- Locals: Accepted

Required Certifications & Licenses
- License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Jersey
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of acute care experience, including acute care experience within the last year
- First Assist experience with at least 1 year of recent practice
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- CBSPD certification
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Check: Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
- Drug Screening: Negative drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel minimum)
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within required timeframes
- Immunizations and titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
- Annual influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
- Fit Testing: On-site respirator fit test required prior to or on first day
- Respiratory Medical Clearance: Required prior to start and must be updated annually
- Competency Exams: Medication, Dysrhythmia/EKG, IV Therapy/Infusion, and Pharmacology competency exams required within 72 hours of signing and within 12 months of start
- Pass/Fail Testing: EKG and medication exams with remediation process if needed
Additional Requirements
- Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
- Two professional references within the last 2 years (one managerial)
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Compliance with facility-specific policies including floating policy and annual education sign-off
- Completion of any required orientation and safety training prior to start

- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
- All required documentation must be submitted and approved before the offer is finalized.
- Candidates must comply with all health and safety protocols, including mask and respirator use as applicable.
- Candidates with name changes must provide proof and ensure all documentation reflects current legal name.
This position offers a structured schedule with a focus on acute care nursing in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be prepared for a high volume of cases and occasional weekend on-call duties.
