Description
Registered Nurse - Behavioral Health
Location: Salisbury, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 12-hour nights (18:45 - 07:15)
- Target Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:8
- Hours Offered: 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Float Requirement: Yes, may float to other units such as medical or geriatric behavioral health units
- Call Requirement: None
- Orientation: 24 hours unit orientation plus hospital orientation classes during the first week
- Scheduling: Per needs
- Scrubs: Solid print navy blue or white
Patient Population
- Diagnoses include schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, and major depression
Required Skills / Certifications / Experience
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
- First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)
- Required Certifications: BCLS and MOAB (MOAB training provided onsite)
Unit Systems
- Pyxis medication system
- EPIC electronic health record
- SBAR communication tool
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
- Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) certification; MOAB training provided onsite
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Additional Requirements
- Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Color blindness testing within 1 year of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required within 72 hours of start (pass rate 82% or higher)
- Completion of facility-specific education modules including annual compliance, medication safety, and behavioral health orientation
- Background checks and state-specific registry searches required within 90 days prior to start
- References: 2 professional references within 3 years (not required for non-clinical)
- Employment application must be submitted
Important Notes
- No Return to Origin (RTO) allowed after booking; call-offs or additional RTO may result in cancellation
- Flu vaccine or approved exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 10/31)
- Badge photo required prior to start (passport style, solid white background, business attire)
- Candidates must complete all required documentation and training prior to start to avoid delays
