Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Apheresis
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 4x10 hour shifts
- Call: Rotating call required
- Staffing Ratio: 1:1
- Unit Focus: GVHD, BO, CTCL, Photopheresis
- Special Equipment: CellEx
- Skillset Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of nursing experience
- Experience with Apheresis equipment or Dialysis
- Experience with Central lines and ports
Required Certifications
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) - Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted (if applicable)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - AHA only (if applicable)
- Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) (if applicable)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (if applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (if applicable)
Required Licenses
- Valid Indiana Registered Nurse (RN) license must be in hand to submit application
- Online license verification required within 30 days before start date
Required Documents & Verifications
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including:
- 7 years of residence/work history
- SSN Trace
- County, Statewide, and National criminal checks
- National Sex Offender Registry
- FACIS Level III
- Education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Official Transcript or Diploma (may be pending at start)
- Physical exam completed within 12 months of start date
- Fit Mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- Color Blind Exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with minimum 100% score
- References: Minimum 2 references from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles
- Current Employment Application with full work history and explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Skills Checklist completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
Competency Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
- Unit Competency Exam
- Color Blind Testing
Orientation & Facility Specific Requirements
- Completion of facility-specific orientation packets and compliance checklists prior to start
- Mandatory completion of required online modules (22 modules covering safety, compliance, infection prevention, HIPAA, hazardous drugs, patient education, and more) before orientation
- HIPAA Acknowledgement required
Additional Information
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
- Rotating call and 1:1 staffing ratio indicate a high-acuity patient care environment
- Experience with specialized units and equipment (GVHD, BO, CTCL, Photopheresis, CellEx) is essential
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 1 year of dialysis experience, with dialysis experience within the last year
- Experience with apheresis procedures and equipment
- Experience with central lines and ports
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) certification
