Job Description
- Role: Emergency Room Registered Nurse
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend
- Documentation System: Epic
- Skills Required:
- General ER care for Adult and Pediatric patients
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Arterial line management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care
- Phlebotomy
- Starting IVs
- Continuous IV sedation
- IV vasopressors
- Procedural sedation administration
- Traveler Radius: 50 miles
- Accepts first-time travelers
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey with primary source verification
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
- State License 1 Verification
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Skills in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Arterial line management
- Central line care
- Continuous IV sedation
- IV vasopressors
- Procedural sedation administration
Required Background and Compliance Checks
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Education verification (highest level)
- Employment and work history verification (minimum 7 years; NJ requires at least 1 year prior verified with limited gaps)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Required immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
Additional Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Photo for badge
- Completion of unit-specific skills checklist annually
- Completion of competency exams as applicable (medication/pharmacology, color blindness, core competencies)
- Compliance with orientation safety manual and HIPAA requirements
Notes
- Prior travel experience is not required; first-time travelers are accepted.
- This position requires weekend coverage every other weekend.
