Registered Nurse - Rehabilitation
Location: Tyler, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for a rehabilitation unit focused on patients recovering from stroke, orthopedic surgeries, brain injuries, and other debilitating conditions. The role involves providing comprehensive, multidisciplinary care to help patients regain independence and functionality. The nurse will work 3 shifts of 12 hours each during the day.
Shift Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour days
- Patient Ratio: 1:7
- May float to long-term acute care or other units managing MS patients
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience preferred
- Unit does not accept first-time travelers (prior travel experience required)
Charting System
- Epic
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (as applicable)
Required Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
Key Responsibilities
- Provide patient-centered care in a rehabilitation setting
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including physicians, therapists, and support staff
- Develop and implement individualized care plans
- Educate and involve family members in the recovery process
- Utilize advanced rehabilitation technologies and evidence-based practices
- Maintain patient safety, dignity, and respect
Additional Notes
- Candidates residing in certain counties in Texas are not eligible for this assignment (specific counties excluded)
- Background checks, education verification, and various health and competency documents are required prior to start
- Physical exam, immunizations, drug screening, and fit testing must be current and compliant with facility standards
- Annual renewal of certifications and competencies may be required
Summary of Compliance Requirements
- 7-year background check and work history verification
- Education verification and transcript/diploma as needed
- Physical exam within 12 months
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year
- Required immunizations: Tdap, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
- Fit mask test within 1 year
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of rehabilitation nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Medical-surgical nursing experience
- Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
