Job Opportunity: Behavioral Health Registered Nurse

Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Behavioral Health RN position for the 7pm-7:30am shift.
  • Must have 18 months of recent behavioral health experience in an acute care setting (non-psychiatric facility).
  • Must have 18 months of permanent experience in a short-term acute care hospital (non-psychiatric) prior to travel.
  • Responsibilities include milieu management, medication management, assessments, and documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Ohio RN license or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or American Red Cross.
  • One recent professional reference from a manager, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Certifications (Must be current or renewed prior to start)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for many specialties, confirm if applicable.
  • Other certifications may be preferred but not required for this role.

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • Background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search, education verification, and fingerprinting (FBI and BCI) must be completed and updated annually.
  • Fingerprinting must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract and valid within 12 months.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including capability to perform essential job functions.
  • Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months and updated annually.
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (no declinations accepted without approved exemption)
  • Drug screening (standard 10 panel) within 12 months, updated annually.
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year of start.

Documentation and Onboarding

  • Employment application with at least 3 years prior work history including 2 years clinical practice in acute care.
  • Skills checklist required annually.
  • Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start.
  • Baseline competency exams (medication administration and ECG interpretation) required at orientation.
  • References: 2 references from employment within 1 year, from manager/supervisor/charge nurse/director.

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID while on assignment.
  • Candidates may start with fingerprint results pending if fingerprinting is completed prior to start.
  • Physical exam and eye exam do not need to be updated annually if currently on assignment without a break.
  • Flu vaccine exemptions require agency approval and facility review.
  • Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone.
  • Candidates with a break longer than 6 months between assignments may need to repeat onboarding modules.
