Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – MS/Telemetry Unit

Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks


Job Description

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a 26-week travel contract in a clinical decision unit specializing in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry care.


Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Florida
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 1.5 years of telemetry experience, including telemetry experience within the last year
  • Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
  • Strong vasoactive drip experience
  • Acute care experience
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)

Work Details

  • Guaranteed hours: 36 hours for 3x12-hour shifts or 40 hours for 8/10-hour shifts
  • Floating required within scope to meet facility needs (floats to multiple nearby hospitals within 20 miles)
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Pending licenses are not accepted
  • Smoke-free facility: candidates must be nicotine-free (negative 10-panel drug screen including nicotine/cotinine required)

Important Notes

  • Time-sensitive onboarding modules must be completed promptly once assignment is confirmed
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with the application; late requests are unlikely to be approved

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Proof of identity (government-issued photo ID)
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history and federal exclusions (EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG)
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start date
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
  • Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 1 year
  • Seasonal influenza vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
  • Two professional references within 2 years required for travel positions
  • Pass/fail testing on EKG and pharmacology during orientation (2 attempts allowed per test)

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of online onboarding and training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot be completed on a phone)
  • Compliance with facility safety and privacy policies
  • Ability to float to other units/hospitals as needed within the local area
