Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Telemetry
Location: Baltimore, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position requires working weekend night shifts (36 hours, 0620-1900 shift).
- Unit involves telemetry skills; candidates must be proficient in telemetry care.
- Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
- Minimum overall score of 80%
- 100% score on lethal rhythms section
- Comfortable working with gender affirmation surgery patients (experience preferred but not required).
- Holiday work requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays and other future holidays during the contract.
- No on-call requirements.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio approximately 1:5 or 1:6.
- Cerner electronic health record experience preferred.
- Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
- May come into contact with COVID-19 patients.
- Facility requires all employees to have the seasonal flu vaccine.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland.
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Completion of at least one prior travel nursing assignment.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Additional Requirements
- Background check including criminal history, education verification, and drug screening within 90 days of start.
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform job duties without accommodations and free from communicable disease.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year.
- Up-to-date immunizations including MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap, and seasonal flu vaccine.
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually.
- Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start.
- Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years.
- Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficient in telemetry monitoring and interpretation.
- Comfortable with diverse patient populations including gender affirmation surgery patients.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
Work Environment
- Night shift, weekend schedule with holiday coverage required.
- Exposure to COVID-19 patients possible; appropriate PPE and infection control protocols in place.
- Scrubs color: Navy Blue (not provided).
This position is ideal for experienced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry RNs who have prior travel experience and are comfortable working night shifts in a telemetry unit with diverse patient populations.
