Description

Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work schedule: 4 shifts of 10 hours each (40 hours weekly)
  • Patient ratio: 1:1
  • Unit accepts first-time travelers with experience in Cath Lab, Interventional Vascular Lab, or Interventional Radiology
  • Skills required:
    • Diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization lab procedures
    • Assisting with central line insertion and management
    • Starting IVs
    • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
    • Isolation precautions
    • Monitoring procedural sedation
    • Ventilator monitoring
    • Pulmonary artery (PA) line management

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in District of Columbia
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, including experience within the last year
  • Experience in Interventional Radiology
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Proficient in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Skilled in monitoring procedural sedation
  • Experience with pulmonary artery (PA) line management

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license for District of Columbia
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Preferred:

  • BSN degree

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Cath Lab or related interventional vascular/radiology areas
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required

Additional Requirements

  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (does not include marijuana)
  • Annual physical exam confirming ability to perform work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with additional requirements if history of TB
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Hepatitis B, Varicella, Tdap (preferred)
  • N95 fit test within 9 months of start and updated annually
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam with passing scores required
  • Completion of facility-specific orientation modules prior to start

  • Short-term acute care teaching hospital
  • Charting system: Cerner
  • Scrubs provided for this unit
  • Parking available (cost applies)

This Cath Lab RN travel contract position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant Cath Lab or interventional vascular experience, current RN licensure in DC, ACLS and BLS certifications, and the ability to work 4x10 hour shifts with 1:1 patient ratios. The role involves advanced cardiac catheterization procedures and critical care monitoring skills. Candidates must meet comprehensive background, health, and competency requirements prior to start.
