Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Nights

Location: La Plata, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: April 27, 2026
Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
Schedule: Every other weekend required, holidays as scheduled
On-Call: None required
Floating: Required within respiratory specialty across all settings needing respiratory support

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, including experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care and support to patients across all age groups and diagnoses
  • Work night shifts as scheduled
  • Float within the respiratory specialty to different units as needed
  • Work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID
  • I9 or attestation
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal search, education verification, and state-specific exclusions
  • Drug screening (negative 9 or 10 panel, including fentanyl) within 30-45 days prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (N95 respirator clearance required)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for units working with children)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted)
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
  • COVID-19 vaccination not required for this location but documentation may be collected for tracking
  • Two supervisory references within 1 year of start
  • Employment application/resume within 30 days of start
  • Verification of previous 5 years of employment history

Additional Notes

  • No on-call duties required
  • Floating within respiratory specialty units is mandatory
  • Weekend and holiday shifts are scheduled and required
  • Candidates must complete facility-specific confidentiality, compliance, and computer system agreements prior to start
  • Competency exams and certifications may be required as applicable

This position offers an opportunity to work in a diverse patient care environment with a variety of respiratory diagnoses, supporting patients from neonates through geriatrics during night shifts.
