Job Opportunity: Step Down Registered Nurse

Location: Dayton, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Patient ratios typically 1:4, can be up to 1:5-6
• Shift options: 36 or 48 hours per week (Overtime paid after 48 hours)
• Must have EPIC experience
• Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment before starting
• Experience with stable chronic ventilators required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification
• IV start preferred
• Minimum 1.5 years nursing experience with some level 1 or 2 preferred
• Prior travel experience preferred (not required)
• Floating required: may float within specialty clusters or to other campuses within ~15 miles
• Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays
• Contract may allow cancellation of up to 2 shifts due to low census with notice
• No eligibility for employee incentives

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Minimum 1.5 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with PCU experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with stable chronic ventilators
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Information

• Floating assignments may include multiple campuses within the region
• Traveler must be flexible and able to support nursing care teams as assigned
• Respiratory protection medical questionnaire and clearance required prior to orientation
• Drug testing includes random screening during orientation week if prior dilute screens occurred
• Fingerprinting not required unless working in specific units (NICU, Pediatrics, Home Care, Hospice, Pain Management)

Summary

This is a travel contract opportunity for a Step Down Registered Nurse with at least 1.5 years of experience, EPIC system proficiency, and competency in telemetry/EKG. The role requires flexibility to float across units and campuses, weekend and holiday availability, and adherence to comprehensive credentialing and compliance requirements. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
