Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist - PICU
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Respiratory Therapist with Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience for a travel contract position. The role primarily involves working in Labor & Delivery (L&D), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), PICU, or Pediatric Acute Care units. Candidates must be comfortable with every other weekend shifts and flexible with floating between PICU and some Pediatric Acute Care areas.
Schedule
- 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts, day or night
- Every other weekend required
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Indiana
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Children's Hospital within the last 3 years
- Experience in Labor & Delivery (L&D)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NBRC
Additional Requirements
- Must provide written confirmation of comfort with every other weekend requirement before submission
- First-time travelers accepted
- Must have completed mandatory facility-specific Respiratory Therapist modules prior to orientation (21 modules including Environment of Care, HIPAA, Infection Prevention, etc.)
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG required within specified timeframes
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved respirators required)
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required (no declinations accepted)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Competency exams and medication/pharmacology test required
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment (within 2 years) with appropriate supervisory titles
- Current employment application with full work history and explanations for gaps of 30+ days
Unit Information
- Primary assignment in L&D with floating to PICU and Pediatric Acute Care as needed
- Home unit will be NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics, but may change based on facility needs
Important Notes
- Indiana RNs are restricted from working at this facility after 11/30/24 except for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers
- On-site fit testing is limited and must be approved; PAPR use requires prior approval except at certain campuses
- Facility-specific compliance and orientation documents must be completed as a priority before start
Prior Travel Experience
- No prior travel experience required; first-time travelers are accepted
