Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (Day Shift)

Job Description
Seeking a Medical Technologist to support the Microbiology Laboratory. This is a backfill contract position with no call required. The role involves working primarily on the day shift with some weekend rotation.
Unit Information
- Department: Microbiology Laboratory
- Typical Staff on Day Shift: 5-6 plate readers and 1 processor
- Equipment Used: Biofire, Cepheid GeneXpert, Bactec, Liat, Sofia, Solana, MALDI-TOF, Microscan
- Typical Procedures:
- Biofire respiratory panels, BCID
- Cepheid GeneXpert testing
- Liat COVID/Flu testing
- Sofia flu and strep testing
- Rapid kit tests
- Solana HSV testing
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist in Microbiology
- Experience with gram stains and culture setups is required
- Experience with MALDI and automated systems for antibiotic sensitivity testing is strongly encouraged
- Experience with Meditech or similar laboratory information systems is preferred
- Familiarity with the same analyzers and procedures used in the unit is a plus

Required Qualifications
- Medical Technologist with at least 1 year of experience within the last year
- De-escalation skills in a healthcare setting
- Knowledge of USP 800 hazardous drug risk standards
