Description
Registered Nurse - PACU
Location: Westwood, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 3x12 hour days (plus call)
- Patient Ratio: 1:4
- Patient Diagnoses: Post-surgery general, orthopedics, ortho spine, robotic cases
- Charting System: Epic
- Travel Experience: Unit accepts first-time travelers (no prior travel experience required)
- Locals not accepted; 50 mile radius rule applies
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Jersey
- Minimum 1 year of PACU (Post Anesthesia Care) experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- PALS certification
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- I-9 verification and E-Verify compliance
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Education verification (highest level)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
- Work history verification for 7 years (NJ state mandates minimum 1 year prior verified with limited gaps)

- This position requires adherence to strict compliance and documentation standards.
- Candidates must be prepared for a 3-shift day schedule with call responsibilities.
- The unit is open to nurses without prior travel experience, but local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted.
