Job Opportunity: CVOR Tech
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: 4x10-hour shifts, 11:00 AM - 9:30 PM
- Call Requirement: 90-120 hours of call over a 6-week schedule
- First Time Travelers: Accepted if they have Level 1 Trauma experience
- Specialty: Surgical Services (Cardiovascular Operating Room)
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in Level 1 Trauma Center, with experience in vascular and thoracic surgery cases
- Key Skills:
- Receiving pump lines from perfusion and preparing for cannulation
- Assisting with complex surgical procedures including:
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
- Atherectomy
- Atrial Septal Defect Repair
- Cardiomyoplasty
- Carotid Endarterectomy
- Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
- Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR)
- Femoral Popliteal Bypass Graft
- Laparoscopic Cardiac Surgery
- Mitral Valve Replacement
- Pericardial Window
- Robotic Assisted Cardiac Surgery
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR)
- Ventricular Assist Device (VAD)
- Heart & Lung Transplant
- Valve Replacement
- Aortic Dissection
Required Certifications
- BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
- NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
License Requirement
- Must hold a valid license appropriate for the CVOR Tech role (state license verification required within 30 days before start)
Additional Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including 7 years of residence/work history, criminal, sex offender, and education verification
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Physical exam completed within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months of start (specific respirator models required)
- Immunizations and titers:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (series, titer, or signed declination)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (strongly recommended)
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (declinations not accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology and unit competency exam
- Color blind testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent)
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment verified within 2 years, with appropriate supervisory titles
- Skills checklist completed within 12 months and annually thereafter
- Completion of facility-specific orientation and safety modules prior to start
Important Notes
- Call hours are significant and scheduled over 6 weeks
- First-time travelers are accepted only if they have Level 1 Trauma experience
- Perioperative/OR RN travelers are exempt from certain state license restrictions (not applicable to this role)
- On-site fit testing is limited and must be approved if required
- Flu vaccination is mandatory unless a medical or religious exemption is approved through proper channels
- Extensive facility-specific documentation and orientation packets must be completed prior to start
This position is ideal for experienced CVOR Techs with strong trauma and cardiovascular surgical experience seeking a travel contract in Indiana.
