Surgical Technologist - Vail, CO
Employment Type: Contract
Location: Vail, Colorado
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Rotating (3 shifts of 12 hours each)
Guaranteed Hours: 32 hours per week
Start Date: May 11, 2026
Job Summary
Assist during surgical procedures by maintaining the integrity of a sterile surgical field and providing instrumentation as needed to the surgical team. Participate in unit activities to ensure high-quality patient care. Work under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
Essential Job Functions
- Expertise in sterile and aseptic technique, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and use of tools and technologies in invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures. Knowledge of AORN standards.
- Maintain and check all surgical items for proper packaging, processing, moisture, seal integrity, sterile indicators, and expiration dates. Ensure a safe operating room environment and proper equipment function.
- Monitor sterile field for contamination or interference and initiate or notify corrective action under supervision.
- Competency or working towards competency with Tier 1 surgical cases.
- Maintain flexibility and contribute to individualized, ongoing care within scope of practice.
- Communicate effectively and participate fully in perioperative team processes including Time Out, Briefings, and Debriefings.
- Assist with patient transports, room turnovers, and room preparation.
- Maintain professional behavior and stay current with new technologies, procedures, instrumentation, and equipment.
- Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization.
- Model principles of a Just Culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be HIPAA compliant.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
- Completion of a Certified Surgical Technologist program and/or Licensed Surgical Technologist.
Licensure:
- Licensed as a Surgical Technologist in the state of Colorado (required).
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the American Heart Association.
Skills:
- Computer skills sufficient to complete online learning, access forms and policies, and complete benefits enrollment within 90 days.
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking).
