Description

Registered Nurse - Med Surg

Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Medical-Surgical; Neuro Acute Care
  • Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed (may be cancelled up to 3 times per contract)
  • Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Float Requirements: May float to other acute care units within a 25-mile radius
  • Number of Openings: 1

Unit Information

  • Unit: 4 Main
  • Number of Beds: 24
  • Patient Ratios: 1:6
  • Equipment: General hospital equipment for acute care
  • EMR System: Cerner
  • Patient Population: General Medicine

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Alabama
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIHSS certification

  • Professional, adaptable, hardworking, and patient-centered team
  • Dress code: Navy blue scrubs; fingernails must comply with TJC and CMS guidelines; shoes must be closed-toed with backs

Additional Notes

  • This position involves working in an acute care setting with a focus on neurological and medical-surgical patients.
  • The role requires strong clinical skills in stroke care and related assessments.
  • Floating to other units within the acute care division is expected.
