Certified Surgical Technologist - OR

Location: Bozeman, Montana

Position Summary

The Surgical Technologist functions as the scrub person in the operating room. Working under the supervision of the surgeon and the RN, this role ensures a safe OR environment, proper equipment function, and that surgical procedures are conducted to maximize patient safety. Expertise is required in surgical techniques, human anatomy, surgical procedures, and the use of tools and technologies to support safe patient care during invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Essential Job Functions

• Prepare case carts according to preference cards and interpret these cards to procure instruments and supplies.
• Communicate effectively with OR staff and sterile processing staff to coordinate instrumentation for scheduled and unscheduled cases.
• Review daily schedules with charge nurse and sterile processing coordinator to identify potential turnover delays and scheduling issues.
• Manage core communications, delegate duties, and coordinate breaks and lunches.
• Serve as a resource for sterile processing and surgical services departments regarding supply and instrumentation needs.
• Coordinate with materials management on supply utilization and deployment.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, or completion of an equivalent military surgical technologist program
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential
• Surgical Technician experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Additional Information

• Candidates must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered.
• The facility reserves the right to cancel up to three shifts during the 13-week contract due to low census or unforeseen circumstances.
