Description

Registered Nurse - Med Surg

Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Ortho/Surgery Post-op
  • Shift: PM (Shift starts at 18:45)
  • Weekly Hours: 36 hours guaranteed
  • Weekend Hours: Every other weekend
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Patient Ratio: 6:1
  • Unit Beds: 30
  • EMR System: Cerner
  • Float Requirements: As needed

Required Certifications

  • AHA BLS
  • AHA NIH

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Alabama
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS certification

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong time management
  • Positive attitude
  • Strong work ethic and attendance
  • Bedside shift report required
  • Preferred experience in Med/Surg, orthopedics, post-op care
  • Ability to work in a very fast-paced unit
  • Quick thinking, confident, and hardworking personality

Patient Population

  • Surgical patients

Dress Code

  • Scrub color: Navy
  • No long nails, gel nails, wrapped nails, dipped nails, or any fake nails allowed

Additional Notes

  • This is a fast-paced surgical unit requiring strong clinical skills and adaptability.
  • The position involves working every other weekend with no call responsibilities.
