Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Easton, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Start Date: May 18, 2025
Job Description
- Position: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)
- Shift: Rotating night and evening shifts (19:00-07:30 / 15:00-03:30)
- Hours: 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts accepted
- Schedule: Every other weekend required; holidays as scheduled
- Floating: Within specialty and sister ED facilities as needed
- On-call: No pre-scheduled on-call shifts required
- Patient Population: All age ranges (infant to geriatric)
- Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, can be up to 1:5 with lower acuity patients
- Environment: Fast-paced ED with multiple complex diagnoses across all systems
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications issued by the American Heart Association:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to work rotating night and evening shifts based on department needs, with primary need for night shift coverage
- Must be willing to float within the specialty and related ED facilities as needed
- Must be available for every other weekend and holiday shifts as scheduled
- First-time travelers are accepted (prior travel experience not required)
Compliance and Documentation
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and various federal/state screenings required
- Physical exam and immunizations/vaccinations (including TB, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Flu, TDaP) must be current and compliant
- Drug screening (9 or 10 panel depending on facility) required within 30-90 days of start
- Fit mask testing required within 1 year of start
- Various competency exams including medication/pharmacology, EKG/arrhythmia, and age-specific competencies required
- Facility-specific documents such as confidentiality agreements, dress code acknowledgment, and badge photo required prior to start
- Two supervisory references within the last year required
- Verification of at least 2 years hospital or equivalent acute care experience within the last 5 years required
Patient Care Focus
- Care for patients with a wide range of diagnoses and acuity levels in a high-volume emergency department setting
- Ability to manage complex and rapidly changing patient conditions
- Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment
