Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - LTAC ICU

Location: Travelers Rest, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Floating: Required to float to other units as needed, only to units where qualified and competent
  • Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend (may change based on need)
  • Unit Info:
    • 12 Bed ICU and 31 Bed Med-Surg Unit; staff work both units
  • Patient Population: Adults 18+
  • Common Patient Diagnoses: Vent weaning, wound care, spinal cord injury, trach/PEG care
  • Systems Experience Required: Minimum 1 year of EPIC experience
  • Medication System: Omnicell

Required Qualifications

  • License: South Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross, RQI acceptable)
    • BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross, RQI acceptable)
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in the specialty (Registered Nurse in ICU/LTAC setting)
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers may be accepted depending on specialty experience

Additional Requirements

  • Must comply with floating policy for contracted staff
  • Must have completed or be able to complete required online modules and pass mandatory testing prior to start
  • Background checks and verifications including:
    • 7-year background check within 12 months of start
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and ongoing every 30 days
    • Drug screening within 1 year of start and updated annually
    • Education verification and license primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • Health documents required:
    • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
    • Immunizations and titers (TB, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Flu vaccine or exemption)
    • Fit test for respirators completed onsite during orientation
  • Pass/Fail testing for medication and arrhythmia exams (for RNs) prior to orientation
  • Badge photo required prior to start

Orientation and Training

  • Completion of approximately 12 hours of online modules within 72 hours of assignment
  • 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite, followed by clinical precepted orientation
  • Ongoing annual competencies and training required (Core Parts I, II, III)

Patient Care Focus

  • Care for adult patients with complex needs including ventilator weaning, wound care, and trach/PEG management
  • Work in ICU and Med-Surg settings with critically ill patients

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for a Registered Nurse with ICU/LTAC experience in South Carolina. The position requires night shifts with floating responsibilities and weekend coverage every other weekend. Candidates must have at least 1 year of specialty experience, SC RN licensure, and current ACLS and BLS certifications. Prior travel experience is not mandatory. Compliance with extensive background checks, health screenings, and mandatory training/testing is required before starting the assignment.
