Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Burlington, Vermont
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 32 weeks
Job Description
- Assignment start date: May 4
- Work setting: Inpatient Adult ICU & Emergency Department, and NICU Level III required; PICU preferred
- Schedule: Weekends as needed, no call, schedule flexibility required
- Holiday work: Must work 2 out of 4 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Christmas Eve, New Year's Day)
- Teaching hospital experience required
- Epic electronic medical record experience within the past 2 years is required
- No block schedules allowed
- Orientation provided bi-weekly on Mondays
- Reliable personal or rental vehicle strongly recommended due to limited public transportation; vehicles should have all-season or snow tires November through April
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Vermont
- Minimum 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- Teaching hospital experience
- Experience with Epic electronic medical record system
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA certified
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA certified
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA certified
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- State Respiratory Therapist license (primary source verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration)
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- N95 Fit Test (annual) with approved mask types
- Immunizations/vaccinations: Tdap (within 10 years), MMR (2 vaccines or positive titer), Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer), Hepatitis B series or signed declination, Flu vaccine or exemption (seasonal), Pneumonia vaccine or declination if assigned to NY facility
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (annual)
- Drug testing as required
- COVID vaccination or declination required
- Background checks including criminal, motor vehicle report (if applicable), and education verification
- Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry consent and search required for Vermont assignments
- Completion of facility-specific modules including Epic and Cornerstone prior to start
- Photo for badge (passport style, plain background) required two weeks prior to start
- Auto insurance required if using personal or rental vehicle
Additional Notes
- Must provide detailed work history including bed count, EMR used, and facility type for all prior assignments
- Employment gaps over 90 days must be explained
- Two professional references from assignments within the last 3 years required
- Skills checklist within 12 months and 2-year verification of most recent clinical work history required
- Orientation and onboarding processes are time-sensitive and must be completed as scheduled
This position offers a flexible schedule in a critical care environment with a focus on respiratory therapy in adult and neonatal intensive care units. Candidates with teaching hospital experience and recent Epic EMR proficiency are strongly preferred.
