Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical Technician

Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (LTA)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Start dates available: May 11 or May 26.
  • Standard contract length is 13 weeks.
  • Work schedule options:
    • 4x10 or 4x12 hour shifts, Day/Evening rotation.
    • Evening shifts may become primary based on skill needs.
    • Includes 2 weeks of night shifts per contract.
    • Includes at least 2 short calls every 4 weeks and weekend shifts.
  • Shift details:
    • 4x10 Day: 7:00 AM–5:30 PM (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri), 9:00 AM–7:30 PM (Wed)
    • 4x10 Evening: 1:00 PM–11:00 PM
    • 4x12 Day: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM (Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri), 9:00 AM–9:30 PM (Wed)
    • 4x12 Evening: 11:00 AM–11:00 PM
  • Weekend shifts for 4x10 schedule include 12-hour shifts plus 8 or 10-hour shifts during the same week to meet contracted hours.
  • Must have experience working in a high-capacity operating room.

Required Qualifications

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification (NBSTSA or NCCT).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
  • Surgical Technologist experience within the last year.
  • Must meet all health and professional credential requirements listed below.

Required Credentials and Compliance

  • Photo ID: Recent color photo (within 6 months), plain background, no filters or eyeglasses.
  • Fit Test: N95 respirator fit test within 365 days of start date, updated annually. Must be completed on the designated form; no exemptions allowed.
  • Respirator Medical Clearance: Attestation required as part of fit test documentation.
  • Immunizations:
    • MMR: Documentation of two doses each of measles and mumps vaccines, and one rubella vaccine, or proof of immunity via blood test.
    • Hepatitis B: Strongly preferred (3-dose series or proof of immunity or declination).
    • TB Test: Documentation of TB skin test or blood test within 3 months of start date, updated if break >6 months.
    • Tdap: Preferred within last 10 years.
  • Health Statement: Physician statement signed by MD/DO/NP/PA within 365 days of start date, updated if break >6 months.
  • Background Checks:
    • Criminal background check within 45 days prior to start, updated if break >6 months.
    • Massachusetts CORI check within 30 days prior to start, updated if break >6 months.
    • National sex offender registry check within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
    • Exclusion checks (OIG, GSA, MassHealth, NH Medicaid) within 30 days prior to start, updated annually.
  • Resume: Must include past 7 years of work experience with city and state.
  • References: Two references within 4 years, including at least one supervisor or higher in the skillset.
  • Skills Checklist: Must be completed within 1 year of submission.
  • Assignment Confirmation: Required for all initial assignments and extensions.
  • Education Verification: Verified through background check company for highest level achieved.
  • SSN Trace: Must be run with criminal check covering last 7 years of addresses and aliases.

Additional Notes

  • If candidate has a positive TB test, documentation of a negative chest x-ray after the positive test is required.
  • Name change documentation may be required if credentials do not match current legal name.
  • Candidate submission coversheet is required for initial assignment submissions and new facility submissions.
