Description
Respiratory Therapist
Location: Bloomington, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Overview
- Work primarily with adult patients; minimal pediatric and neonatal cases.
- Provide respiratory therapy services in inpatient settings including ICU, Post ICU, Medical, Surgical, OB, and Emergency Department.
- Perform arterial blood gases (ABGs) and EKGs.
- Assist with intubation (not required to intubate independently).
- Use various respiratory equipment including PB980, PB840, Avea, Servo, ENVE ventilators; V60 Bipap; Resmed CPAP; Vapotherm high flow devices.
- Work 12-hour shifts (1830-0700) with self-scheduling options.
- Weekend requirement: every 3rd weekend (Saturday/Sunday).
- Holiday work included.
- Weekend call required at least once every 6 weeks with a 30-minute response time.
- Department orientation requires a minimum of 3 shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Active Illinois Respiratory Therapist license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated.
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) via NBRC
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via NBRC
- Experience with respiratory therapy equipment and working knowledge of EPIC electronic medical records.
- Must produce a negative drug screen for all panels.
- Some experience with adult respiratory care required.
Additional Information
- Call off policy: Equivalent of 12 hours off every 13 weeks with no penalty.
- Non-billable orientation hours: 12 hours.
- No dress code requirements.
- Hospitalist or intensivist coverage in-house during the day; on call at night.
- Respiratory management and lead therapist available on each shift.
- No floating requirements.
