Registered Nurse (RN) - Rehab - Inpatient (Days)

Location: Des Moines, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Description

• Provide nursing care for acute rehab patients including brain injury, limb loss, spinal cord injury, oncology, trauma/ortho, and general debilitation.
• Patient population primarily rehab and medical-surgical.
• Float across multiple campuses and like units within a 50-mile radius.
• Unit patient ratios:

  • Day shift: 5:1
  • Night shift: 7:1
• Unit size: 12 to 23 beds depending on campus.
• Experience with drips such as Heparin required.
• Work schedule: 36-40 hours per week, with overtime after 40 hours.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 24 months of recent experience in Acute Rehab and/or Medical-Surgical nursing in a hospital setting.
• Proficient and experienced in caring for patients with brain injury, limb loss, and spinal cord injury.
• Ability to independently manage a variety of patient types including neuro, ortho, trauma, and oncology.
• At least 1 successful travel nursing contract completed within the last 24 months (prior travel experience required).
• Active Iowa RN license or multistate compact license at time of application.
• Current BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Skills checklist specific to Rehab/Med Surg nursing discipline.
• Professional references or performance evaluations within the last 24 months preferred.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification is a plus but not required.

Additional Information

• Orientation date available.
• Candidates must be able to float across all campuses and similar units.
• EMR system used: EPIC.
• Call back and on-call duties may be required.

This position is ideal for experienced rehab or med-surg RNs looking for a temporary assignment with a diverse patient population in an inpatient rehab setting.
