Job Opportunity: Occupational Therapist - Home Health
Location: Columbus, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide occupational therapy services in home health settings, including home visits and periodic office meetings.
- Average patient load: 5-6 patients per day.
- Types of cases: Start of Care and Follow-Ups.
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Patient visits include both home and care facility settings.
- Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic.
- Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate (patient home to patient home; commute to/from first and last patient not billable).
- EMR systems used: HomeCare HomeBase, Oasis, Outlook.
- No guaranteed hours; if patient census is low, may be floated to a nearby clinic to pick up hours.
- Weekend and on-call requirements vary; discuss during interview.
- Local candidates accepted.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Occupational Therapist license in Georgia.
- Minimum of 1 year of Occupational Therapist experience within the last year.
- Experience working with adult patients.
- Experience in a home health setting.
- BLS certification.
Additional Requirements & Compliance
- Must complete standard background checks including:
- 7-year work and residence history.
- Sex offender and nationwide criminal searches.
- State-specific background checks as applicable.
- Fingerprinting requirements depending on state.
- Education verification required.
- Drug screening (10-panel) required.
- Health documents required prior to start:
- Physical exam within 12 months.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months.
- Proof of immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
- Flu vaccination or documented declination.
- COVID-19 vaccination series or declination.
- Must review and sign various compliance, confidentiality, and policy documents prior to start.
- Two professional references required.
- Verification of work history for the last 7 years or two most recent employers.
Travel & Work Environment
- Home health setting with patient visits in private homes and care facilities.
- Travel up to 75 miles radius from home clinic.
- Schedule typically Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM; some locations may have alternate shift schedules.
- No on-call required for this position.
Notes
- This is a true contract assignment with potential for hire at the end of the contract.
- Candidates must be prepared to comply with all state-specific licensing and background requirements.
- Must have reliable transportation and insurance coverage for travel between patient homes.
