Job Opportunity: Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) – Long Term Care
Location: Humansville, Missouri
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Screen, evaluate, and rehabilitate patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders.
- Develop and implement appropriate plans of care following regulatory and clinical practice standards.
- Utilize standardized assessments and evidence-based practices to support clinical interventions.
- Assess patient progress and adjust treatments accordingly; evaluate treatment outcomes for effectiveness.
- Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress and treatment plans.
- Document all required clinical and regulatory information accurately in electronic records.
- Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings.
- Obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies as needed.
- Supervise and support Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) or student Speech-Language Pathologists.
- Adhere to ASHA and state-required practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Speech-Language Pathology experience (New graduates accepted if they have completed Level II experience, not just Level I observation).
- Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings is required.
- Active Missouri State License.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA is required.
Additional Information
- Typical treatment times for SLP are approximately 30 minutes per session.
- Caseload may range from 10-14 patients per day depending on the number of evaluations.
- Group therapy is allowed and may be part of the schedule.
- Therapists typically have dedicated devices for documentation.
- Productivity expectations: 88-90% for evaluating therapists.
