Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor & Delivery (L&D) (Nights)

Location: Bellefontaine, Ohio
Employment Type: Temporary

Job Description

• Perform head-to-toe patient assessments and reassessments according to policy.
• Assess and reassess pain using appropriate evaluation methods; utilize pain management techniques and educate patients and families.
• Develop, revise, and evaluate plans of care daily based on patient response.
• Provide age-appropriate care considering principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
• Administer medications correctly based on patient age and clinical condition, following the five medication rights to reduce errors.
• Create and implement teaching plans based on patient learning needs; involve family as appropriate.
• Perform technical and manual nursing skills within scope of licensure; seek guidance when needed.
• Treat patients and families with respect and dignity; address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
• Act as liaison between administration, patients, physicians, and healthcare providers.
• Maintain a safe environment to reduce medical errors.
• Collaborate with other departments for interdisciplinary patient care.
• Communicate clearly with unit director, co-workers, and physicians.
• Maintain good working relationships within the unit and other departments.
• Coordinate with Care Coordination for in-hospital and post-discharge plans.
• Ensure documentation meets current standards and policies.
• Safely operate and manage equipment.
• Coordinate and supervise patient care as necessary.
• Demonstrate flexibility, organization, and ability to function in stressful situations.
• Maintain and perform annual competencies, including bedside blood glucose testing.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of Labor & Delivery experience.
• Additional Experience: Postpartum and nursery experience required.
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (American Heart Association)
  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • All certifications must be current and AHA-approved at the time of start.
• License: Active Ohio RN license or compact RN license required at time of submission.
• Education: BSN degree preferred.
• Other: COVID-19 vaccination card required if vaccinated.

Work Schedule & Environment

• Work week: Sunday through Saturday (shift details not specified).
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Meditech.
