Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - IMC

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably with neurological experience. This is an Intermediate Care (IMC) unit focused on a sub-specialized neurological patient population alongside medical intermediate patients.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience, including neuro PCU experience
  • PCU experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Telemetry experience
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Preferred Qualifications

  • IV Therapy/Phlebotomy: Accessing/managing ports, phlebotomy.
  • Additional skills: Triage, ICP monitoring, conscious sedation, charge nurse experience.
  • Certifications: CCRN, TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute).

Work Details

  • Shift: 12-hour day shifts (06:45 - 19:15)
  • Shift Length Options: 36 or 48 hours can be offered
  • Patient Ratio: 1:4
  • Unit Census: Maximum 24 patients
  • Weekend Requirement: Minimum 3 weekend shifts every 6 weeks
  • Float Requirement: May float to other intermediate areas including cardiac intermediate and critical care (ICU/Stepdown)
  • Call Requirement: None

Orientation & Training

  • Unit orientation: 32 hours (8-hour computer class plus two shifts on unit) after initial hospital orientation.
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start.
  • Must adhere strictly to call-off policy (strongly enforced).
  • Teamwork approach required, meeting behavioral expectations in all interactions with patients and staff.

Patient Population

  • Intermediate care patients with a neurological sub-specialty focus alongside medical intermediate patients.

Equipment & Systems

  • Unit systems include Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR.
  • No special equipment provided.
  • Scrubs: Not provided; combination of navy blue and white acceptable.

Compliance & Requirements

  • Background checks, drug screening, immunizations, and health documents required per standard clinical travel assignment protocols.
  • Fit testing required (N95 or PAPR training).
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season.
  • Various competency exams including medication and dysrhythmia/EKG competency required.
  • Education verification and licensure must be current and valid.
  • Must complete required facility-specific orientation and compliance training.
