Description
Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery
Location: Austin, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Nights)
Call Requirement: No call required
Weekends: Alternating
Unit Overview
- Unit Type: Labor and Delivery / OB Emergency Department
- Number of Beds: 32
- Staffing: Approximately 150 staff members
- Patient Ratios: 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio (both day and night shifts)
- Shift Leadership: Day and night shifts each have 1 charge nurse and 1 co-charge nurse
- Equipment Used: Novii, JADA, Fetal Pillow, IUPC, FSE, Toco
- Electronic Medical Record: Meditech
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Registered Nurse (RN) License
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of experience in Labor and Delivery nursing
- Competency in SVE (Sterile Vaginal Exam) and C-Section circulation
- Experience with Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
- Preferred: Experience in a high-volume Level IV unit
- Preferred: Previous experience with internal monitor placement
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required
Typical Procedures Performed
- Spontaneous Vaginal Delivery (SVD)
- Cerclages
- Cesarean Sections (C-Sections)
- Trial of Labor After Cesarean (TOLAC)
Work Environment and Culture
- Team-oriented with a positive attitude highly valued
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs required; navy blue t-shirts are not acceptable. Solid blue, black, or grey sweatshirts allowed
- No call requirement, providing a balanced work-life schedule
- Unit offers opportunities to work with new equipment and technology
- Permanent positions available on the unit

- Candidates without the required certifications and competencies will not be considered

Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience
- Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- AWHONN Fetal Monitoring certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
