Respiratory Therapist - Contract Position
Location
- Milwaukee, WI

Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Patient Population
- Mostly geriatrics and adults
- Some pediatrics in the Emergency Department
Patient Ratios
- 1:1
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) or RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience
Prior Travel Experience
- First-time travelers considered upon review (prior travel experience not explicitly required)
Skills and Competencies
- Ventilator management (including AVEA, Servo U, LPU 1200, parapack vents for MRI, Hamilton vents for transport)
- CPAP and BiPAP
- Nebulizer treatments
- Arterial line placement
- Intubation
- Vent weaning and extubation
- Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
Orientation and Support
- At least one shift orientation to learn unit flow
- Floating within hospital to all units
Scheduling
- Weekend rotation every other weekend (default)
- Time off approval up to 7 days (default)
- On-call requirements vary
- No block scheduling accommodated
- Fatigue policy: maximum 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
Charting and Equipment Systems
- EPIC electronic health record
- Pyxis medication system

- Scrub color: Any except camo or denim

Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Wisconsin
- Minimum 1 year of respiratory therapy experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
- Experience with ventilator management
- Proficiency in CPAP
- Arterial line (A-line) placement experience
- Intubation skills
- Experience with ventilator weaning
- Extubation skills
