Registered Nurse (Med Surg) - Illinois

Location

• City: Dixon, Illinois
• Small town environment about two hours west of Chicago

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Unit Details

• Medical-Surgical Department
• Beds: 23 on 4th floor, 14 on 3rd floor
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: Ideal 1:5, can go up to 1:7
• Patient diagnoses commonly include NSTEMI, COPD, Pneumonia, Sepsis, Acute Kidney Injury
• Telemetry unit with monitoring technicians; RNs sign off on strips during shifts
• Shifts: 7 AM - 7 PM and 7 PM - 7 AM
• Weekend and holiday work typically every other week
• Low call or standby requirement; no on-call expected
• Floating may be required to ICU, ER, or Behavioral Health Care if candidate has experience; otherwise, no floating outside Med Surg
• Charge nurse/house supervisor role available
• Patient care technicians (PCTs) support with a ratio of 1:8
• Respiratory therapy equipment limited to home units; highest level is Heated High Flow
• Scrub color flexible; close-toed shoes and good hygiene required
• Department-specific orientation: 1 shift with detailed binder provided

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Notes

• Orientation includes 12 non-billable hours
• Call-off policy allows up to 12 hours off every 13 weeks without penalty
• No requirement to titrate drips for RNs on this unit
