Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Weekend shifts required
- Schedule: 3 shifts per weekend, 12 hours each (night shift)
- Floating between campuses may be required
- Patient ratio: Not applicable
- Equipment used: GE Ventilators
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Ohio
- Minimum of 1 year of Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA provider or instructor acceptable
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA provider or instructor acceptable
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (Ohio-specific codes apply)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Education accreditation verification required immediately after contract signing
- Transcript/Diploma verification required (official documents only)
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (no pending drug screens allowed)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Various health immunizations and screenings required (see Health Documents below)
Health Documents Required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire in lieu of annual TB test renewal
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer or 3-vaccine series (declination acceptable)
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; medical exemption requires documentation
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership
- Employment application required
- Skills checklist required
- Compliance with dress code and hand hygiene policies
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual, ethics, and compliance policies
- Unit-specific competency exams may be required
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required annually for RNs (not applicable for RRT)
Notes
- Parking permits are available for agency staff (costs and options subject to change)
- Fingerprinting must be completed using specific Ohio codes and within 1 year of start; new fingerprinting required if break in service exceeds 90 days
- Background check and fingerprinting results with hits require additional documentation and adjudication
- Candidates must comply with all facility-specific policies and training requirements
This position is ideal for experienced Registered Respiratory Therapists seeking a travel contract with weekend night shifts and the flexibility to float between campuses. Prior travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
