Location: Robinson, Illinois

Job Summary

The Consulting Services RN provides direct and indirect patient care across various specialties including Neurology, ENT, Endocrinology, Nephrology, Cardiac, and Urology. The role requires initiative, flexibility, and professional responsibility with minimal supervision. The nurse prioritizes care based on physical and psychosocial needs and communicates patient status changes to consulting providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and complete patient assessments, including interdisciplinary screenings and pain reassessments tailored to age, culture, and psychosocial factors.
• Explain specialty procedures to patients and families; assist physicians with procedures and utilize specialty equipment.
• Educate patients and families on treatment plans and follow-up instructions per provider guidance.
• Prepare and administer medications according to patient age and clinical condition, managing medication supply and coordinating with pharmacy as needed.
• Maintain knowledge and use of cardiac monitoring systems, adenosine pumps, and cardiac stress protocols; identify and treat dysrhythmias; monitor and interpret hemodynamic status.
• Document patient medical history, pain assessments, medications, and health risk factors thoroughly and timely.
• Ensure patient safety and reduce healthcare errors by following established protocols and maintaining department security.
• Cross-trained to cover all consulting areas as needed.
• Comply with safety procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Participate in performance improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, including at least 1 year of clinical experience within the last year
• Experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) settings
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently within a team environment
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to perform well under pressure and adapt to changing assignments
