Description
Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Olney, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 5 days a week (8 hours per day)
- Primary hours: 6:45 AM – 3:15 PM
- Flexible hours: 10:45 AM – 7:15 PM
- Call Requirements:
- Up to 12 hours per week (Monday 7 PM through Friday 7 AM)
- 12 hours on weekends (Friday 7 PM – Sunday 7 PM)
- Every other holiday required
- Orientation: Weekly orientation on Mondays, ASAP start
- Scrubs Provided
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
- Minimum 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background Checks:
- Criminal background check within 90 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks prior to and during assignment
- Drug Screening:
- Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana) covering multiple substances
- Health Requirements:
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; annual TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, and Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start, updated annually (client may complete onsite if needed)
- Competency Exams:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 3 years, minimum 80% score
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required annually for applicable units (see note below)
- Orientation and Facility Modules: Completion of facility-specific modules required before start
Additional Notes
- Call shifts and holiday coverage are mandatory as part of the assignment
- Candidates living within 60 miles may be eligible for local rates (not detailed here)
- Valid driver’s license required if driving is an essential job function
- Photo for badge must meet specific criteria (clear, centered, no glare, solid background)
- Annual recertifications and ongoing compliance with facility policies are required
Specialty-Specific Competency Exam Note
The Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam is required annually for RNs working in critical care, telemetry, cardiac, ICU, emergency, and other specified units. The exam must be completed within 1 year of assignment start, with a minimum overall score of 80% and 100% on lethal rhythms section. Remediation is available if needed.
