Medical Surgical LPN Travel/Contract Position

Location: Rochester, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM), 4 shifts per week (48 hours/week)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed
• Charting System: EPIC experience required
• Floating: Required to float within skillset
• Patient Ratio: 1:5–6
• Unit Type: Complex care unit for Medicine, orthopedic overflow, and complex long-term patients
• Scrub Color: Navy blue and white combinations accepted
• First-time travelers accepted
• Locals accepted with adjusted pay

Required Qualifications

• Valid LPN / LVN license in New York
• Acute care experience within the last 2 years
• Long Term Care experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
• Medical-Surgical experience
• Telemetry experience
• Blood product administration
• Central line care/management
• Phlebotomy
• PICC line management
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) experience
• Tracheostomy (trach) care/management
• Heparin protocols
• Pacemakers (temporary and permanent)

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

Background Checks & Verifications

• 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
• Social Security Number trace, national criminal, sex offender registry, education verification
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
• Foreign equivalency education evaluation if applicable
• Employment application and work history verification required
• References (2 within 3 years) required for travel agency candidates

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year, with acceptable mask types specified
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire accepted in lieu of annual renewal
• Immunizations or positive titers required for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

• Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background)
• Orientation safety manual acknowledgement
• Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
• NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required
• Color blindness testing (one-time)
• Competency exams as required by specialty

Scheduling & Policies

• Shift hours: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Call-off policy: Up to three shifts may be canceled by client without charge during contract
• Requests for time off, block, and special scheduling must be submitted with application

Notes

• Fingerprinting and additional background checks may be required for certain units (Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Home Health Aide, Long Term Care)
• Candidates must complete all health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of contract signing
