Description

Cardiac Cath Lab Tech

Location: El Paso, Texas
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, typically 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (flexibility required for 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM based on operational needs)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Call: Required, distributed evenly among staff; weekends on-call for emergent cases


Unit Overview

  • 3 operating cath lab rooms (2 are Electrophysiology compatible)
  • Typical staffing on day shift: 2 RNs and 2 CV techs per case (unless anesthesia or non-invasive)
  • Equipment: Cath lab technology
  • Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
  • Permanent positions available on unit

Typical Procedures

  • Cardiac catheterization (Cath)
  • Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
  • Electrophysiology procedures (A-fib)
  • Watchman device implantation
  • Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
  • INARI procedures
  • Device implantations (Pacemakers, ICDs, Impella)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist, with experience within the last year
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • Cath Lab Tech Certification (RCIS/RCES preferred but not required)

Preferred Qualifications

  • RCIS or Cardiovascular Nurse certification
  • Experience in both Cath Lab and Electrophysiology

Work Environment & Culture

  • Fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Dress code: Royal blue or black scrubs required
  • Recognized for excellent outcomes with very low PCI mortality
  • High procedural volume including 50 TAVRs annually
  • Unit has received 2 facility STS awards and is the largest structural volume center in the area

Additional Notes

  • Flexibility in shift hours and call schedule is necessary
  • Candidates without Cath Lab experience will not be considered
  • The unit values hardworking individuals who thrive in a collaborative team setting
