Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Nurse - Contract

Location: Hilo, Hawaii

Job Description

• Provide care for patients pre-op, and during Phase I and Phase II recovery after surgery.
• Utilize advanced knowledge of anesthesiology and critical care skills to assess incision sites, monitor body temperature, and track patient stability or complications.
• Work in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and Ambulatory Surgery Unit (ASU).
• Use equipment such as Meditech, PCA Pumps, Pyxis, Braun IV Pumps, Cryocuff, SCD's, Bair PAWS Warmers, HP Monitors, and Phillips Monitors.
• Critical thinking and prior experience in critical care and surgical nursing are highly valued.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Hawaii.
• Minimum 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Minimum 2 years of critical care RN experience, including Emergency Department (ED) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) settings.

Schedule

• Shifts vary between 8, 10, and 12 hours.
• Work hours may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• No guarantee of specific hours or shift preference.
• On-call shifts required 0-3 times per month (including 8-hour night and 24-hour weekend/holiday coverage).

Additional Information

• Must arrive the Thursday before the start date for employee health appointment on Friday.
• Proof of flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to contract start.
• Flu vaccination can be administered during employee health clearance appointment.
