Description

Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Clinton, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Role: Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN)
  • Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (07:00 - 19:30)
  • Schedule: Every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Float within skillset required
  • Must have triage experience
  • Must have recent experience (within past 8 months) working in an ED with at least 45,600 visits per year (approx. 125 visits/day)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Prior travel nursing experience required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract)
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA or ARC certified
  • Must successfully pass the Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam with:
    • Minimum overall score of 80%
    • 100% score on lethal rhythms section
  • Cerner EMR experience required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • E-Verify and I9 documentation required upon hire
  • Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
  • Physical exam within past year confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
  • Immunizations and health documentation required:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (with additional requirements if history of TB)
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years preferred
    • Documentation of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
    • Hepatitis B titer, series, or signed declination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination documentation
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • N95 Fit Test within 9 months of start, updated annually (not required for Sterile Processing Tech)
  • Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
  • Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education, employment, license, and contact information
  • Skills checklist and competency exams (medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG) required and must be current

Additional Notes

  • Candidates local within 60 miles may be considered at a different rate (not disclosed here)
  • Facility-specific modules and orientation must be completed prior to start
  • Background checks and drug screens must be updated if there is a break in service of 6 months or more
  • Annual recertifications and compliance trainings may be required depending on assignment duration and facility policies

This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Department RNs with travel nursing experience who meet the certification and competency requirements and are comfortable working a demanding day shift schedule with floating responsibilities.
