Description
Job Opportunity: Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Euclid, Ohio
Contract Length: Approximately 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Hours per week: 36 hours
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 1.5 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Required Licenses & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio
- Minimum 1.5 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Orientation & Testing Requirements
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate medication administration exam must be passed during orientation
- Baseline competency exams (medication and ECG) required for all bedside RNs (except OR RNs) with minimum passing scores:
- SafeMedicate: 90%
- ECG interpretation: 80%
- Prep materials provided before testing; remediation and retake opportunities available if needed
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming ability to safely perform job functions
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 small/regular or 1870+) within 12 months, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers required with no declinations accepted (medical/religious exemptions must be approved):
- Tdap (every 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titers)
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGold, or TSPOT) within 12 months or chest X-ray if past positive
- Annual TB questionnaire if history of positive TB
- Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination documentation required annually (no declinations accepted; exemptions require approval)
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
Background & Verification
- Background check required prior to start, including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search (SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide, sex offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, education verification)
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months, updated annually (code 4723.09 for nursing)
- Education verification required for all candidates
- Nursys license verification within 30 days of start
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
Documentation & References
- Two professional references required from employment within one year of start (manager, supervisor, ANM, charge nurse, or director)
- Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care in a similar specialty
- Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background)
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry a government-issued photo ID during assignment
- Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
- Candidates must complete all onboarding modules and be cleared before starting
- Fingerprinting must be completed prior to start; candidates may start with results pending but must complete before extension
- Candidates with a break in employment greater than 6 months may need to repeat orientation and modules
- Candidates must be prepared to complete required competency exams and pass orientation assessments
