Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

  • Travel contract
  • Contract length: 13 weeks

Unit Information

  • Department: Respiratory Services
  • Location: Main Respiratory Therapy department, Mission Campus
  • Number of beds: 854
  • Number of staff: 120 respiratory therapists
  • Shift staffing:
    • Day shift: 15-20 RRTs for adult service lines, 3-4 RRTs for NICU/Pediatric service lines
    • Night shift: 12-16 RRTs for adult service lines, 3-4 RRTs for NICU/Pediatric service lines
  • Patient ratios: 10 to 25 patients per therapist
  • Equipment used:
    • GE R860 Adult ventilators
    • Draeger Infant/Pediatric ventilators
    • Newport HT70 transport ventilator
    • V60 Non-invasive device
    • Vapotherm and Comfort Flow high flow oxygen devices
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system: Cerner
  • Floating assignments: All critical care units and floors
  • Dress code: Medium Gray/Pewter scrubs
  • Weekend requirement: At least 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in North Carolina
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (NBRC)
  • Minimum of 1 year of recent experience as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • Certifications:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Typical Procedures and Responsibilities

  • Provide respiratory care across adult, neonatal, and pediatric populations
  • Work in critical care settings with advanced ventilator management and respiratory support devices

Work Hours

  • Approximately 36 hours per week

This position is ideal for experienced RRTs seeking a travel opportunity in a high-acuity, well-equipped hospital environment with a strong focus on critical care respiratory services.
