Description
Registered Nurse – Ortho Unit (Travel/Contract)
Location: Tyler, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Unit: Orthopedics (MS Ortho Unit)
- Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
- Number of Rooms: 36
- Float required
- Weekend shifts: Required for half of scheduled shifts
- Charting system: Epic
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Minimum 2 years of Orthopedics nursing experience, with experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS certification
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start, must be renewed annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test (2-step PPD, QGOLD, or TSPOT) within 1 year
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or physician-documented history
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31)
- Photo for badge required
- Complete employment application/resume and unit-specific skills checklist annually
- 7-year work history verification required
Additional Notes
- Candidates residing in certain Texas counties (Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris) are not eligible for travel contracts in this state.
- Orientation and onboarding requirements must be met prior to start.
- Facility maintains fit test records for onsite testing locations.
This position is ideal for experienced orthopedic RNs comfortable with night shifts and working in a fast-paced environment with a 1:6 patient ratio. Travel experience is preferred but not mandatory.
