Medical Lab Technologist - Day Shift
Location: Pagosa Springs, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Assignment Length: 13 weeks
Shift:
- Saturday & Sunday: 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Monday: 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Weekly Hours: 36 hours
Position Summary
Seeking an experienced Medical Lab Scientist (MLS/MT) traveler to perform a broad range of laboratory testing across multiple disciplines including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, urinalysis, coagulation, and serology. The role requires working independently during shifts in a Critical Access Hospital setting, ensuring accurate and timely results to support patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and complex laboratory testing across all core lab departments
- Analyze, verify, and report test results, including critical values
- Perform phlebotomy and specimen processing as needed
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation
- Perform and document quality control procedures
- Utilize Laboratory Information System (LIS) for documentation and reporting
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory and safety standards
- May be required to float within scope, including phlebotomy
Required Qualifications
- Medical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year
- Degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field with completed clinical training
- Certification by ASCP (MLS/MT) or AMT
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Experience in an Acute Care setting
- Experience with Cerner Electronic Health Record system
Skills and Work Environment
- Ability to work independently on shift
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Experience across multiple lab disciplines
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, rural hospital environment
- Must be adaptable to rural healthcare settings
Additional Information
- On-call not required
- Holidays may be required if falling within scheduled shifts
- Floating within scope may be required
- Traveler must be comfortable working independently
